Mie Buhl is professor in IT, learning design and visual culture. Mie is head of the Communication, ICT and LearningDesign (KILD) research group and the Research Lab: ICT and Learning Design, at the Department of Communication and Psychology, Aalborg University Copenhagen. She has her educational background in visual arts education and has taught in primary school, teacher education, and university education. She founded one of the first municipal visual art schools in Denmark in 1993 and was co-founder of the Danish unit: visual culture in education (2002-2011). Her research revolves around visual culture, digital media, social aesthetics and with a particular emphasis on visual learning and visual learning designs. She has more than 100 publications in the field nationally and internationally.
